AMERICAN LEGION POST #178
September 2010 NEWSLETTER
FROM COMMANDER GARY “BUCK” FIEGEL – This past month has been a busy one. We held our Hamburger Fry, had the Garage Sale and served food at the Wheels & Wings Festival. We were moderately successful on all fronts, but it took a lot of work from a lot of people. I would like to name all who helped, but I know I would miss someone. I feel I do need to mention those who really contributed. First, I want to thank Tony Krik and the Wetzel Motorcycle Club for the use of the tents for both the Hamburger Fry and the Garage Sale. Andrea Fiegel, Dawn Hoffman, Rose Myers and Jane Strukenburg did a super job setting things up and running the whole show. They devoted a lot of hours to making the sale a success.
We sold $1,156.50 worth of
merchandise. After $154.57 in
expenses, the Auxiliary, S.A.L. and Post 178 Social Club each earned $200, and
the Legion made $402.03. We are
still putting the figures together on the Airport Breakfast, and I will share that
next month. The preliminary
figures show us to be about $1,000 off of last years’ profits. We were hoping to do much better, but
we faced stiff competition from the Lincoln Highway Garage / Yard Sale and the
Rib Cook-Off at the Fairgrounds as well as several other area events. All in all we did show some profit, and
I want to again thank everyone who donated items for the Garage Sale or
contributed their time to make the sale and breakfast successful.
Don’t forget that we do have a website, catch the
latest Post happenings at Americanlegionpost178oh.org. In the future, we hope to setup an
email program that will allow us to send our monthly newsletter by email
instead of using the postal system because of the extreme cost involved with
conventional mailings. At that
time, anyone wishing to receive the newsletter and calendar by email can submit
it to us.
